This painting is one in a series of paintings of my self portrait personalities, and is called "The Protector".
I took this picture while out in the wild...just kidding π.... The original reference photo I took while visiting our local Cabelas. The stuffed cougar was positioned to fight a bear. What I saw is a protector.
This painting is part of my series of my personalities: I don’t get angry often, but when I do I am fierce, controlled and focused - which is exactly what I saw in the cougar.
This painting for me generates really strong emotions of anger, protection and fierceness - even now when I look at it. When I started painting "Protector", I started it at night after a long day when I was angry...well, super angry, because of some things that were going on in my life that I couldn't control; husband's deployment, people ticking me off when I had to explain logic, a fellow artist trying to backstab (yes, that shit happens even for artists π)...everyone was pissing me off, I felt defensive, angry and ready to fight. You know what I mean?
What this painting reminds me of, is not only can I be fierce, I can be as calm as a cat as well; but rub me wrong and the claws come out. ππΊπ―π¦
I hope you like the painting!
